lesson learned

It’s been some rough-ups-and-downs-y months for me, mainly because it’s senior year and I have to adjust with my new friends (but they are really kind and friendly so thanks for making it easier) and the constant and unending tutoring and of course mid-term test. However I learned few things—the hard way—and I’d like to post it in here. Not because I am referring to something or someone, just because I can and it’s one of my outlets in said life.

1. First of all, people change. As Heraclitus said,
“the only constant thing in life is the change itself”.
Here I would state that the world is revolving, there are changes that happen in mother earth every single second, so that is perfectly fine that people, too, change. It’s vivid, unavoidable, and it is in our nature. I have gone through some profound thinking while I was at shower (every deep thoughts are always born when you are having shower right?) and I can say that we wouldn’t realize it at the first place, that people will change and it is the only constant thing about them. And afterwards we will feel disappointments because we aren’t ready to face it, or maybe we don’t know, or maybe we did know, but we didn’t really know what it meant, until it slaps us right in the face. Richard Marcinko once said,
Change hurts. It makes people insecure, confused, and angry. People want things to be the same as they've always been, because that makes life easier. But, if you're a leader, you can't let your people hang on to the past, and this leads us to point 2.

2. You can’t depend your happiness on someone else, because they will let you down. How happy they might have made you, or how much you wanted them to be around you at all times, do not lean your happiness on someone else. They will crush you down, disappoint you, and—maybe—you would have to find someone else who will make you happy (only to get you hurt again even more).
"When we are unable to find tranquility within ourselves, it is useless to seek it elsewhere" --Francois de la Rochefoucauld.
So in this point, I’d say just seek happiness in you, or make happiness on your own, doesn’t mean that you can’t be happy for someone else, they can also be your contributing factors of your happiness—reasons to be happy, but not sole reason. And do not rely on anybody else but yourself. It might be cliché, but it is true, though. Learn to realize that however some people might be there for you, this is your life and their lives don’t revolve around yours.

3. It is okay to talk up about your problems, and it’s okay to be vulnerable at times. Of course it’s not similar to bragging about your problems, or being a drama queen, but you can talk about your problems without being an attention seeker or said drama queen. By that, you also have to be a good listener—because I’m also a sole believer of give and take, what you give is what you’ll get. Sometimes, some people don’t need advices, or solutions in how they would solve or get out of their problems, sometimes they need a good listener who will comfort them—not by saying that everything’s gonna be okay because at most times when you say that everything’s gonna be okay, it’s not—but just be there for them. I think by opening up to yourself some more, will liberate you and release some grudges or wraths—that if you don’t try to cope with, will be self-destructive, and believe me you’d never want to be in this point of life where you are full of self-loathe.

4. In this case if you haven’t found a good listener—poor you. I’d say find some outlets. I think writing is a good outlet for me, so is singing—even if I don’t know how to, or listening to music or make one, or paint or do some sport. Anything—you’d have to figure it out on your own. To me I really like writing, and talking to myself sometimes.

I guess that is all—for now, all that I can come up with. Not all of them would apply to everyone, anyway. Just find anything that might suit you, hehe. And if you’d like to add anything, you are most welcomed to; just drop it in the comment box below.

Playlist No 1

I was pretty much bored, I decided to make a playlist of what I've been listening throughout the week. And of course I had to add the newly discovered dynamic duo, Disclosure (actually I have another song that I wanted to put in the list, called 'Latch' featuring Sam Smith); and a song from The Great Gatsby; a song that I'm currently working on with drums; a song from a band that I had just watched the concert last weekend; and my all time from Unorthodox Jukebox, Treasure.
So I hope you'll like my playlist (especially Disclosure ft Eliza Doolittle!).
What songs are on your playlist this week? :) X

The background pic is from my favorite and so far the best visual blog I've ever seen: Sarah Sherman Samuel's blog.

Foodies

Went to Monolog Coffee (Plaza Senayan) and Pancious (Plaza Indonesia) with my cousin and brotherlast month and I just had to take some shots!
We ordered:
1. Savoury Pancake: Smoked Beef (I love the perfect combination between the melted mozzarella cheese and smoked beef and to top it off, the smooth structure of the pancake itself)
2. Fresh Fruit Ice Tea Cocktail (it's pitcher and definitely recommended! Fresh and sweet and a little sour)
3. Egg Benedict (note to self: try to make a perfect egg like in the picture up-right)
4. The Fried Chicken Dinner with gravy and french fries (favorite!)
5. Smoked Salmon Tartine (sorry Salmon I never get it why some people like you....ever)
6. OJ, Fresh milk, and lychee tea

Bottom left: what seemed like coffee machines in Monolog. I love this place with the comfy couches made me feel like I'm on set of 'Friends'!

Since I'm bored right now and not in the mood for doing anything (except watching Grey's Anatomy that will start in 5 mins), I decided to write again in this blog. Don't know if anybody ever read this but it's just my outlet--I think. And no, I won't make this a culinary-cafe hopping-full with reviews kind of blog, I'd just like to deliver my thought and my ideas or experience.

Senior year talk

That day she was at her best friend's house just chit chatting as usual, not minding the clock ticking as it was actually late to say farewell to her other friend who was going to go overseas for year but they got caught up in a heavy rain that forced them to stay at the house until it ended. "What do you want to be when you grow up?", the best friend asked, it wasn't all of a sudden, since their conversations recently led up to this topic. The high school afterlife, and of course; college. "Well I've wanted to be a surgeon since ever, cardio thoracic surgeon", she replied. "No, that's not what I was talking about", the best friend raised her brows. "You know what I mean", she continued. The girl thought about it for a second, she almost got this figured out when her best friend was all, "If your parents are wealthy, can afford enrolling you to any college in the world, or shape you to who you want to be". Her best friend's tone was demanding, and she wanted a real answer this time. "Well I guess...", the girl said, still deciding to say it out loud or not, whether her best friend will laugh at what she might say or not. "I want to be an a-", the girl couldn't finish her sentence, but her best friend knew it. "You want to be an actress", her best friend finished her almost-said sentence. The girl thought for a moment, not rejecting nor refusing what her best friend got to say, but not completely agreeing what she said. The best friend always got her all figured out, well she might as well know the girl more than the girl knows herself. It will always be like this for them, it sure had benefits but some disadvantages, too. "I just want to help people out and inspire people, if I get famous, well that's a bonus, but I do think I'm passionate about acting and music", the girl finally opened up and ignoring her voice in the head that said that the best friend might laugh about it. "What are you passionate about?", the girl asked to her best friend. Dancing, the voice in the girl's head said. "Well if I could, I want to be a passionate dancer", her best friend replied. It wasn't completely a lucky guess, it was simply an I've-spent-lots-of-time-with-you-so-I-know-you-inside-out guess. "I guess it will always be awesome for those people who are passionate about something and want to pursue something in that field, without having to listen what other might say or having doubts whether they might be successful or not", the girl said. "But I'm not willing to take that risk though. Well I think getting into medical school is already a lot to handle. I know I'm a coward, but I also want to be a surgeon badly", the girl continued, pouring it all to her best friend, who sighed when the girl finished her sentence, and finally she replied. "It will be that way for me, too. I'm not refusing it, I just stopped thinking about it, because the more I think about not being a pro dancer, the more I will get hurt and scarred". "It will be great to have the best of both worlds though..", her bestfriend said in hope. "I know", the girl said.

Hey June

Hello! I'm abandoning you (again) but anyways, I'm happy cause it's June right now. It's my birth/(hopefuly) lucky month. And there will be exams and tests on June (fingers-crossed) hopefully I can work hard and smart enough to pass with flying colors :) here's my exam schedule, June 10-17: second-semester exam. June 16: drum grade test, soo wish me luck!
Last May, my school invited an indie duo called Endah N Rhesa (they're husband and wife), to perform and yeah it was pretty much highlight of the day. My favorite song is Silence Island (which turned out to be their single in their newest album). Soo check them on twitter and search for their song on youtube (esp Silence Island cause its good!). And 2 weeks after that, June 1st, I watched Andien! My favorite female-singer woo hoo!! She also sang some tracks from her newest album (that just came out today on CD entitled #Andien) like 'Bernyanyi Untukmu' and 'Aku Disini Untukmu', its a remake of Dewa 19. Aaaand I planned to buy the album as soon as it's available :>

playlist: Dear Jacqui - Tim Heintz, You Make Me Smile - Dave Koz, Have You - Koala
book: Currently still on Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
movie: none - hadn't watched anything lately :( except Iron Man 3 that was probably the last movie I saw
concert: Andien, June 1st
website: newyorkfashionweek.com
tv show: new girl

Insta2012

Happy new year everyone!

Late December

a. I curled my hair and it turned out awesome (the coolest lock I had in my hairstyling history) and I couldnt resist the urge to take pictures. From the back and with headband, Blair Waldorf-style.

b. I performed in red (yes I'm back people!) with 12 bar Blues and bunch of audiences

c. I also bought Casual Vacancy, JK Rowling's new book which is fictional but not in a witch-and-or-knight fiction. More like a rational fiction (so far from what Ive read I'm on pg 158 haha). And thanks to my Gossip Girl collection it kept me out of boredom :-)

11/22/12

I was watching Jenna Marbles this afternoon and then this song came up and I of course looked it up on youtube, found this, the best cover of this song :) oh btw I just did a little DIY and no I dont think my blog will all be about DIY (but im starting to like doing DIYs lol). It was pretty easy I'm sure everyone is able to do it, and I will be posting about it later :)

Sunday AM

(this was written on Sunday and I didn't get to post it until now)

Now it’s been almost a week without my cellphone and I feel dull
But the bright side is, I can *ahem* study without any distractions and whatnot, and I can focus on more important things.
This AM my bestfriend, Erina went to my place, because we had to sell T-shirts slash tickets for my school’s funbike (yep my school’s holding funbike on Nov 25th). After we got tired from smiling and being nice and friendly EVEN to those who didnt really appreciate us nor even took a glance of what we were offering (I feel you, salesmen), we went to a cafe called Lotus Mio.

Lotus Mio is located near my house (yay!) and it’s not so big but artsy and filled with cute wooden furnitures. The menus are italian like pasta, lasagna (homemade), also their specialty is gelato. So if you want to go to a gelato place that arent filled with kimcil2 you can come here! They had cookies and cream, green tea and mint, strawberry, chocolate (less flavor than the ones you can find on Artemy). The other (+) of this place is, not so many people visit it, because its far from schools area or downtown, so it has its own exclusivity, and it’s quiet, it would be a nice place to study or hangout and just talk with a good friend.

Erina ordered Pannacotta for Rp 14.500, it’s like creamy pudding filled with strawberries. And by creamy I mean really mushy and creamy and so yummmmm!  Parfait! Its SO good & recommended. I was gonna go for Chocolate Lava but they ran out of it (I can tell, maybe it’s their bestest specialty) so I ordered gelato instead. It was cookies and cream, and it was VERY very recommended because of its stickiness and taste. Thats all that we ordered because we didnt have much time we had to go back home and to sell some more but we were all in all, satisifed!

Looking forward to try Apple Pie, Quiche and Fettucine. Sorry for the bad photo qualities, all photos were taken with iPod so yeah that's why.
Ciao! a

Prevaricator much?

Hi. I hadn't been blogging for so long I'm starting to miss it. Anyway, it's Sunday and it wasn't really a funday but today was better than the weekdays, so I'm still grateful for it. I've just finished taking some SAT Vocab Quiz (the reading section) and the practice test (because I'm gonna have English test tomorrow so I figured it might be good to do the SATs) and I got 730 for the practice test :>
Last Saturday, I went to my brother's game it was a basketball game and he was the captain, in my opinion he wasn't golden :( due to his asthma and he got a bit tired in the 3rd and 4th quarter. But anyway his school team won (I used to go there to) so good luck for tomorrow's game!
Last night I happened to be at this big concert with Michael Paulo and David Benoit in it and it was awesome and mindblowing (I especially love Jamey Tate because he was super cute and his drumming wasn't too rigid and he didn't look like he was trying too hard-he looked relaxed-something to look up to). I bought Jamey's CD too and it's such and ear candy, my favorite is Six Freeways, it's like a soundtrack to a candlelight dinner-it's romantic and soulful.
A few weeks ago I was experimenting with juice and this came up: Beetroot and Carrot. Made it and tasted it, it actually tasted OK, not bad. But then afterwards I felt queasy and I wanted to throw up badly (good thing I didn't throw up at school that day, or anywhere). I was supposed to add it with Ginkgo Biloba and rosemary but I didn't so maybe that's why. So the recipe is: beetroot, carrot, ginkgo biloba (just one drop) and rosemary. I googled and it is said to stimulate your brain and it's best consumed in the morning before going to school so you would be focused and all that shit while you're at school. So if anybody would like to make any, let me know because I can email you with the full recipes and I would like to know how it would turn out with the full ingredients. Fingers crossed you will be okay and you'll get a straight A at school!
At last, happy weekends (well the week is about to start again-sighs) and please click here. (You're welcome). There's a pumpkin spice latte somewhere on pg 13 :) not sure if it came out in Indonesia though :(

Been feeling like this lately because of the exam week:

9/10/12

Some people

are like, one moment, they're really chilled, they give you birthday presents, they hang out with you, text you and stuff, do some stuff that makes you feel special, share secrets, tell stories, take picture together.

And then like 3 months later they don't do that anymore. You're pissed off (obviously), you feel awkward and weird. It's not only because of them not doing stuff anymore, it's also you don't put any effort on it. You stopped trying. You stopped talking and all you do is just wishing that everything's running well in their lives.

9/6/2012

Hey guys, so I finally came up with entirely different header. I personally like it, 'cuz I think it brought such a cool-mint-y atmosphere (?). Anyways, I changed the blog title too that's why.
Today I'm gonna be doing Thankful Thursday, so here it goes:
1) My girl-friends
So good to finally be able to interact with them again and have no boundaries *cough*. And it feels right to make jokes and laugh without keeping eyes on people around us.
2) Ladies' Club
I just got back from LC this afternoon and it made me realize of how relieving it is to talk and just exchange stories. No dramas, just us gossiping while sippung lemon squash and eating some cakes and macarons. God, I miss them!
3) My Mom
Thankful for her because she had been so patient dealing with me and she'd been driving for me since the first day of school, she's such a strong powerful woman
4) Caffeine
It keeps me awake and sane in the mornings and while I'm cramming for exams. Boy we better be workin out again next week 'cuz next week's gonna be EXAM WEEK! Darrrn time flies so fast when you're..not studying.

I've been meaning to change my bloggie and I hope this might work, because I've missed writing and I have so much more to say and to share. If there's any reader please let me know because I, in this point, am not really sure if there's anyone who actually reads this full of venting and ranting blog of a 16 year-old. I would like to continue writing, and just rambling, about what I like, what I dislike, and so on.
What about you? What are you thankful for this week?

9/1/12

Happy Blairday

So it was my best friend's birthday last week but she was heading to KL for a competition :-( too bad, but I gave her a surprise (or it wasn't a surprise anymore since I had a feeling that she knew that I was coming). But weell I went to her place in the morning and gave a bday cake.
Anyway, the birthday wishes were already sent to her, and I hope she liked it :)
Wishing you a constant happiness and many many years of friendship, also thanks for coming to my life B!

--S

(PS since this blog is now all about birthdays lol, i'm gonna write morrre! Haha. Because sometimes 140 characters isnt enough and I have so many things to say!)

Gotta be the good life

So my birthday was on the 24th, I was away so I had fun after the birth day. I'm cool with it, totes. Had been feeling really good and blessed with such kind friends :) I also feel inspired and jolted from anything that buried me-and my creative mind. I feel like I could find my way back into enjoying more of life what has to offer, which is the non-surprisingly, drums. I feel passionate about it and i really can't wait to try some new patterns, rudiments. I just feel like I finally found my way back.
As for my birthday, I had a really good time, really kind motivate & supportive wishes from my friends and bestfriends, and my fam of course. I'm really looking forward for the many years of friendship & sistership.
Thank you for the video, I watch it everyday and it never failed to put a smile on my face, I don't like it, I LOVE it! Everything keeps getting better , I'm so thankful right now, I feel blessed.
Alhamdulillah :)

Just a quote by Blair Waldorf that basically applies to me

Feelings never do make sense
They get you all confused
Then drive you around for hours
Before they drop you
Right back where you started
